Rising energy costs are something that affects us all, not just in the business world, but in our personal life as well. For the majority of manufacturers, energy consumption can account for huge portions of their operating costs and so a slight increase in price can mean paying out thousands; as opposed to at home where it can mean a few extra pounds for us.

Data collection and analysis is nothing new, people have been doing it for decades, but we are now in an era where it doesn’t have to be a drawn out, tedious process. We can be smart with our data, and really use it to unlock insight into areas of the plant floor that may previously have been ignored.

By having access to real-time and historical data, from multiple sources, all stored in a single place, we can close the IT/OT gap and contextualise and interpret operational data in just a few clicks. Being able to share this with everyone that needs it, from C Level to shift supervisor, allows for across the board understanding of exactly where and how energy is being used and, most importantly, what changes need to be made in order to be more energy efficient.

On February 14th at 12:30pm, we will be holding a webinar where we will look at how Wonderware Intelligence can be used to monitor energy usage, be that at a single plant, or across multiple sites. We will also discuss the government legislation around energy efficiency that manufacturers face, and how you can comply with it by making full use of your operational data.
